The beginning of ‘That something special’.

My name is Ann and I am the proprietor of 'That something special'. My company exists because of dramatic events in my daughters life. Just a few short years ago her life was very different. She was an Engineer and spent the majority of her time wandering around construction sites, supervising highway works. Not exactly the most suitable job for a women some might think and certainly not one that gave her much time to relax and pamper herself. Unknown to me or anyone else at the time, dramatic events in her life were about to force her onto another path.

In 2009 she was diagnosed with the chronic condition Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, more commonly known as M.E or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. As a result, excessively long working hours and high stress levels in her job meant that she would not be able to continue doing it. She became bed bound. Physically she was extremely weak and the condition also affected her cognitive function meaning that the majority of the time, even simple details such as her name and address became impossible to recall; despite her level of intelligence.

As part of her daily routine she discovered the joys of a simple bath. She began to appreciate the relief the warm soothing water and bath oils could offer. She enjoyed the comforting thoughts the various fragrances instilled; thoughts of her childhood, when life seemed far less complicated and complete. Never before had we appreciated something so necessary and habitual, a luxury.

It was then she started to experiment with the various different bath products available and discovered that she found none more desirable than a bath bomb. So many choices, so many different things that could be experienced as the result of something so simple. I became fascinated as a result of the relief that was demonstrated on my daughter's face, so much that I started to research how to make them and haven’t looked back since.

I have turned this hobby into business. It's wonderful to be able to do something you enjoy so much and make a living out of it and it's wonderful to be able to bring joy and comfort to others because of what you do.

I am thrilled to be able to share my special creations with you!

As a way to raise awareness of M.E my daughter Gemma has written a book, which is available to purchase on this website. Look for it in my personal selection store!

As an additional effort to raise funds for M.E research I accept donations for ME Support In Glamorgan on my website. I my daughter is currently Chairwomen for this chairty. To find out more about it please visit www.mesupportinglamorgan.co.uk . Please clink below to donate to this charity.
